Division III regionals nearly set thanks to automatic bids

The Division III regional is shaping up with this year's first-ever automatic bids. The six winners will play in the New England regional at a site still to be determined on the weekend of May 18-21. There might also be at-large bids awarded to the next worthy team.

With this weekend's results, here is the update on who will be playing.

Already qualified:

1. Wheaton - NEWMAC winner (25-10)

2. Endicott - CCC winner

3. Suffolk - GNAC winner (30-7)

4. Bridgewater - MASCAC winner (26-3)

Not determined yet:

5. NESCAC winner - winner determined by vote

6. Little East winner - league tournament May 9-13.

And for an at-large bid:

7. It has become pretty obvious that Southern Maine and Eastern Conn. are both equally qualified of making the tournament. But while only one can win the Little East, the loser would definitely be worthy of an at-large bid. That's only if Southern Maine or Eastern Conn. wins the conference. If it's someone else, then Southern Maine might get the nod for beating Eastern Conn. twice last week.
