GAME WRAPUP

It's not the way the Sluggers wanted to start a winning streak, but as they say, "A win is a win." The long Fourth of July weekend took all the spark out of the Merrill Lynch Mob, who called Coach Tony to forfeit early in the day. And it's a good thing they called early--before the rains came--or StayWell may not have walked away from this one with a W. And so the StayWell Sluggers improve to 3 and 4 on the season.

AN EXCITING DAY

July 6th was an exciting day none-the-less. It will forever go down in history as the day that Steve "Wheels" Baer was rewarded for shamelessly stuffing the Major League Baseball All-Star Game ballot box to bring Red Sox shortstop, Nomar Garciaparra, from third place to first place in the All-Star voting. Nomar will now start the 1999 midsummer classic in Boston. He owes it all to Wheels. See the suspicious results at the link below.

SOFTBALL CHEERS

Make the most of the Sluggers' off week, by learning some softball cheers to use at their next game. See the link at the bottom of this page.

NEXT GAME

See the Sluggers try to even their season on Wednesday, July 21st, against the Shriners Hospital Fez. Lisa "Car Wash" Chiuchiolo will make her first appearance on the mound in four weeks. (She hasn't pitched since June 23rd.) Game time is 5:30 on the Esplanade.

Then the Sluggers close out July on Tuesday the 27th when they get to take on the Merrill Lynch Mob for the last time of the season.
