Miscellaneous: "Utility Player" is an overused term in sports today, but that is
the only accurate label we can place on Smith's expected role on the
StayWell Sluggers. Her tenacity on and off the field will no doubt be an asset
to her new team.
Coming from the rough and tumble ranks of the NMHCC pick-up league, Kristen is
looking forward to this--her first--season in an organized softball league.
"It'll be hard having to play by the rules," she said. "I'm used to being able
to run the base paths wielding that aluminum bat like a Samurai sword. It really
boosts your on-base percentage." It's no wonder hockey is Smitty's true love.
Will StayWell be able to tame this wild spirit, turn this raw talent into a
by-the-book all-star? Only time will tell.
