Nicknames: T-Stop, TamStan
Biggest Fan: None yet!
Arch Nemesis: See above.
Years Pro: 3
Likes: the smell of mitt oil.
Dislikes: the smell of hot, steamy grass.
Lifelong goal: To throw out a runner at first from shallow center.
Favorite Quote: "Pinky: What are we going to do today, Brain. Brain: What
we do everyday, Pinky. Try to take over the world."
Miscellaneous: Stanley represents the last of a dying breed: smooth as silk
fielders. Her soft glove (thanks to all that oil) and surprising rocket of
an arm fill a fielding void in the StayWell Sluggers' roster.
The Sluggers drafted this natural talent from the Woodland Hills Woodies,
making Stanley the first Slugger to go direct from high school ball to the
Bigs.
How does Coach Tony see this young scrapper faring this season?
"She used to be a hall monitor," he said in a recent interview. "That
shows that Stanley is all about discipline, and that's what the Sluggers
have been missing in years past. We haven't been disciplined on the
field."
How does the former hall monitor feel about this sudden change in scenery?
"I'm spearheading our Zero Tolerance policy this season," she said. "We
will severely punish those that are late to practice, late to games, not
wearing cleats, and making errors in the field."
Stanley has been known to wield her 32/28 softball bat like a night stick
on the field, severely disciplining infielders when they boot grounders
and punishing outfielders for dropping fly balls.
"I just want to maintain order on the field," she said.
It should come as no surprise that the 5'4" authoritarian is working on an
endorsement contract with Winner International, maker of The Club[R]
vehicle anti-theft device, the official vehicle anti-theft device of
amateur softball.
"We noticed the way Stanley carries the bat like a club," said Michael
Peca, Director of Corporate Marketing and Merchandising for Winner
International. "Stanley represents the image we want to convey: don't just
win--dominate!"
